ENVELOPE

Evaluation and validation of connected mobility in real open systems beyond 5GS

The main objective of ENVELOPE is to advance and open up the reference 5G adv. architecture, and also to transform it into a vertical-oriented with the necessary interfaces tailored to the CAM UCs that i) expose network capabilities to verticals, ii) provide vertical-information to the network; iii) enable verticals to dynamically request and modify certain network aspects in an open, transparent and easy to use, semi-automated way. ENVELOPE aims to deliver 3 large-scale B5G trial sites in Italy, Netherlands and Greece for CAM services and beyond, implementing functionalities tailored to the CAM services and advanced exposure capabilities. Although focused on the CAM vertical, the resulting developments will be reusable by any vertical. The ENVELOPE architecture will serve as an envelope that can cover, accommodate and support any type of vertical services. The applicability of ENVELOPE capabilities will be demonstrated via the project CAM UCs and via at least 9 open call projects.

The project in Torino

Within the ENVELOPE project, the city of Turin is expected to contribute through the identification of requirements to implement the use cases, the required infrastructure (e.g., 5G enabled areas), the facilitation of testing through the obtainment of relevant permits and dissemination of project outcomes and open call activities at the local and national level through the CTE NEXT innovative ecosystem. This will be performed in the wider context of the project and, more specifically, as part of the following use cases: Advanced in-service automated incidente reporting and Dynamic Collaborative Mapping for Automated Driving. The first involves the implementation of an accident reporting service, in which a self-driving vehicle must send a large amount of sensor data to determine the reason for the accident. The second concerns collaborative mapping: in this case the vehicle shares sensor data when it realizes that the environment does not correspond to the available maps.

Pratical steps

  • Identify a suitable area for testing
  • Draft a scheme draft a scheme for the data protection impact assessment (DPIA) – for data processing (license plates, people filmed, etc.) – required by the GDPR for the replicability of the use case
  • for the use of Artificial Intelligence describe the methodology for drafting the AI ACT EU required risk identification document for the AI used in the use case and the risk minimization scheme for the replicability of the use case
  • identify the type of data and output useful for public rescue (112) for the use of data by the Police and the rescue system (ambulances) for the replicability of the use case
